According to the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC), certificants are required to demonstrate continued professional competence by earning Certification Maintenance (CM) points during each five-year recertification cycle. CM points recognize ongoing learning and contributions to the fields of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management, industrial hygiene, and auditing.

Educational programs provided by All Safety CE qualify specifically under Category 4: Attendance at Educational Programs, delivering relevant, measurable learning objectives, aligned with BGC’s competency areas, and proper documentation for verification.

Typical five-year requirements include:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH): Total of 40 CM points (240 hours) with at least 0.33 CM points (2 hours) in Ethics and a minimum of 10 CM points (60 hours) in Category 4.
  • Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH): Total of 35 CM points (210 hours) with at least 0.33 CM points (2 hours) in Ethics and a minimum of 10 CM points (60 hours) in Category 4.
  • Certified Process Safety Professional (CPPS): Total of 40 CM points (240 hours) with at least 0.33 CM points (2 hours) in Ethics and a minimum of 5 CM points (30 hours) in Category 4. Management training is limited to a maximum of 5 CM points (30 hours) in Category 4. There is no maximum limit for Process Safety (PS) subject matter training in Category 4.
  • Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA): Total of 100 hours of CM activities, including at least 2 hours of Ethics training. Category 4 maximum is 50 hours per cycle.
  • Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP): Total of 50 CM points (300 hours) with at least 1 CM point (6 hours) in Ethics and a minimum of 20 CM points (120 hours) in Category 4. Category 4 maximum is 25 CM points (150 hours).
  • Environmental Professional In-Training (EPI): No Certification Maintenance requirements.

PS subject matters include professional-level education directly related to the knowledge domains covered in the CPPS Exam Blueprint, such as hazard assessment and control, regulatory compliance related to chemical and product safety, risk communication, product lifecycle stewardship. sustainable product design, exposure assessment and management, environmental health and safety management practices, toxicology fundamentals relevant to product stewardship, and chemical/product management and labeling.
