Course Objectives

After completing this course, the participant will be able to:

• Identify how fires start, spread, and escalate through the lens of real-world workplace incidents.
• Explain the principles of hot work safety and apply NFPA 51B protocols to prevent ignition during welding, grinding, and cutting tasks.
• Assess and address common electrical fire hazards using guidance from NFPA 70, 70B, and 70E.
• Analyze life safety code requirements for safe exits, fire drills, and emergency planning based on NFPA 101 and OSHA 1910.38.
• Evaluate fire suppression systems, impairment tagging, and detection strategies in accordance with NFPA 13, 25, and 72.
• Develop a site-specific Fire Prevention Improvement Plan using a risk-based approach and lessons from case studies.
