Course Objectives
After completing this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify high-risk tasks and environmental conditions that contribute to serious workplace injuries, including those related to falls, confined spaces, electrical systems, dust and airborne contaminants, and fire hazards.
- Apply hazard recognition strategies in real-world settings by using observation, pre-task planning, and worker feedback to detect problems early.
- Select and implement appropriate hazard control methods based on task type, exposure severity, and hierarchy of controls.
- Supervise and enforce compliance with protective systems, including PPE usage, hot work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, fall protection, and confined space entry.
- Lead behavioral change through coaching, culture-building, and by addressing common causes of non-compliance among crews.
